Prostate Cancer Mortality Rate

County: Washoe
Measurement Period: 2022

Prostate cancer mortality rate (crude) per 100,000 males.

Why is this important?

Prostate cancer is a leading cause of deaths among males. Regular and timely PSA (Prostate Specific-Antigen) screenings for prostate cancer are designed to catch the disease in an early stage.  When caught early, health costs are reduced, treatments are more successful.

The prostate is a gland found only in males, and is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum.  The two greatest risk factors for prostate cancer are age and race, with men over the age of 65 and men who are non-Hispanic Black possessing the highest incidence rates of prostate cancer in the US.
